Alameda County consists of a web of interconnected governments, non-profits, and advocacy organizations that play an important role in making our county a better, more accountable, and safer place to live.
Billions of dollars are allocated every year to address all the quality of life issues that we face, and DA Ursula Jones Dickson respects and appreciates the work that is being done to ensure that our best days are still to come. Where collaboration is helpful and possible, she seeks it.
For this system to work effectively, we need a District Attorney focused on the mission of the office. The Alameda County District Attorney’s office has a direct role and statutory responsibility to seek justice, elevate the rights of victims, and exercise the wisdom and discretion needed to prosecute the serious and violent crimes that most endanger our community.
As our District Attorney, Ursula Jones Dickson is focused on:
- Keeping victims at the center of all that we do – adhering to Marsy’s Law.
- Prosecuting cases in a fair and impartial manner.
- Reducing our county’s massive case backlog to soon transition to a point where the office can be fully forward-looking.
- Restoring trust in the office through effective office management, hiring and promoting experienced prosecutors, ensuring robust training of DA staff, and developing a leadership team that reflects the diversity of experiences and backgrounds that make Alameda County whole.
- Working with community partners to ensure that the DA’s office is a productive and helpful ally in reducing and preventing crime in our community, especially when it comes to victims’ advocacy, addressing human trafficking, crisis response, and helping our young people avoid the criminal justice system.
- Being clear-eyed and truthful to the public about the challenges we face and what it will take to overcome them.
The road ahead is not easy, but we are on the right path. Ursula is a DA for the people, and she will make us proud.
